She was born in Baird Texas on March 12, 1940 to parents Felipe and Isabel Castro Delara.
Minnie was a devout Catholic who was strong in her faith and very supportive of her family. She was a wonderful wife, a great mother and an even better grandmother. She spent her life working in the Colorado ISD, first in the cafeteria then as a teacher’s aide helping to mold many young minds that may have needed a bit of a boost. She was a big heart in a small body, always there to be that ear to listen, the shoulder to cry on, or person to go to for help. Family was Minnie’s life, she spent every day of her life finding new ways to show her love to her husband before his passing, and missed him like crazy after he passed away. She spent many nights praying for her family and being a super mom in every aspect of the phrase, always teaching her family valuable life lessons all the way until her passing. In her spare time Minnie enjoyed being with family, watching westerns like Gunsmoke, Bonanza, or the Virginian, and watching her Novella’s. She was truly the Matriarch of her family and will be missed dearly.
Minnie is survived by her sons David Godina and wife Emma of Colorado City and Robert Godina and wife Jennifer of Midlothian, and by a daughter Elizabeth Godina of Colorado City. She is also survived by her grandchildren Bianca Cooper and husband Edward, Briana Godina, Justin Davis and wife Leanne, and Dalton Davis and wife Jennifer, as well as by great-grandchildren Julian, Dominik, Raymond, Briggs, Layton, and Tealson, a sister-in-law Fina Mendoza of Boerne and her children, and by several nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Beningo Godina, by her parents, by brothers Felipe DeLara Jr., Frankie DeLara, Alex DeLara, and Clemente DeLara, and by sisters Juanita Lopez, Victoria Morales, Sally Ramos, Archie Cain, and Herlinda Cruz.
