She was born in Colorado City, Texas to Santiago and Margarita Hernandez Luera on September 26, 1942.
Minnie was a woman who put her family above all, raising them according to her Catholic faith. She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Colorado City where she taught Sunday School, was on the church council and helped to cook for the church festival for over 35 years alongside her husband. Before getting married in 1959 at the age of 16 to the love of her life Macario Gomez Minnie helped her mother with her eight other siblings. After she wed, she and her husband went to work in the cotton fields stripping cotton the old-fashioned way which was intense labor before she moved on to being a dedicated professional who provided personalized in-home cleaning services, working diligently as a skilled independent housekeeper and Paraprofessional for Colorado ISD. In her spare time she enjoyed spending time with her family; cooking for family occasions and going to the movies at the old drive-ins that were in town back in the day.
