

On Thursday, April 24th, Royce W. Mahon, formally of Loraine, Texas, passed into his heavenly Fathers arms in Sherman, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Margaret McWilliams Mahon in 2006.
He is survived by son James Mahon & wife Sandra, daughter Susan Hill & husband Rick, daughters, Cindy Mahon and Barbara Couk. He had seven grandchildren and 11 great-grand children.
Royce was born July 7, 1923 in Loraine Texas. His parents were John B and Nola (Muns) Mahon. He is survived by siblings, Bryan Mahon and wife, Mary Nell, San Angelo, Texas, Melba Rickman, Lubbock Texas, Gordon Mahon and wife, Melba, Lubbock, Texas and Sister-in-law, Nova Lee Mahon of Ft. Worth, Texas.
Royce graduated from Loraine High School and served in the 112th Army Air force during WWII. During his youth, he helped his Dad with Mahon Grocery Store and later Mahon Motor Co. in Colorado City. Royce farmed for many years turning part of the Spade Ranch into a farm for his Uncle Durwood Mahon.
With the help of his wife, Margaret, they owned Mahon Feed Co, Mahon Trucking and when he retired he worked as a US Rural Mail Carrier for several years.
In 2003 Royce & Margaret moved to the Renaissance Retirement Home in Sherman, Texas to be closer to their children. The last few years, Royce had lived at The Renaissance/Seasons where he touched many people and was loved by many.
He always presented himself as the Christian he was and loved to sing gospel music. He will be missed by all whose lives he touched. He was preceded in death by brother, Eldon B. Mahon, brother-in-law, Ricky Rickman, son-in-law, Charles Couk and great grandson, Gavin Gassiott.
There will be a Memorial Service on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 10AM at the Renaissance/Seasons in Sherman Texas.
On Saturday, April 28th there will be Visitation for family and friends at Kiker-Seal Funeral Home from 10:00-11:30 AM. Immediately following the visitation, there will be a grave side service in Loraine Texas. The services will be handled by Kiker-Seale Funeral Home 338 Locust Street, Colorado City, TX 325/728-2662.
