She was born in Robinson Illinois on September 7, 1935 to William and Ione Brimberry Weaver.
Family was life for Shirley and she was proud to be a wife, mother, and grandmother, which she was exceptional at and loved every minute of. She was the type of woman who oozed love as she had a heart of gold which she showed with every hug given. She would even hug strangers if she felt that they were needing a hug. She was an extremely smart woman as she could do crossword puzzles or answer Jeopardy questions faster then most. In her spare time she enjoyed canning, cooking, sewing, and embroidering. In her younger years she made great outfits for her children as well as for organizations her children were involved in. She also enjoyed going fishing and hunting and those that knew her, knew she was a dead-shot with a rifle. Her kindness in the home extended far beyond family as she was an unofficial mother figure to many in need. Her generosity and unending love to many will be cherished for generations to come.
Shirley is survived by her daughters Edie Savell and husband Mike of Broxton, Georgia and Lee Rhodes of Colorado City as well as by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents William and Ione Weaver, by her husband Walter Rhodes, a daughter Ellie Isbel, a sister Pam Miller, and by brothers Bud Brimberry and George Weaver.
A graveside service for Shirley will be held in the Dorn Cemetery on Monday, February 24th at 2pm with Pastor James Williams officiating. Pallbearers will be Joey Nixon, James Morgan, Christian Savell, Bruce Sutterfield, Nathaniel Moore, and Robert O’Donnell.
