

He was born on December 4, 1940 in Robstown, Texas to Vicente and Irmalinda Adame Gaona.
Vicente was a great husband, father, and grandfather, he loved his family deeply and showed them every chance he got. He was the type of man who never met a stranger and lived his life to help others. He many paying jobs such as working for the City of Snyder, Dowell Chemical, and most notably as the Transportation Director for the school system, but his passion was his volunteering, He was in charge of running the chains at the football games for many years, and enjoyed coaching baseball, softball, and boxing. Many in the area refered to him as coach, but he was more of a mentor then just a coach. He ran the boxing gym in town in the downstairs of what is now the mission and never charged his students to participate. Whether it was a child or a young adult in need he would teach them to box as long as they followed a few simple rules. His children remember fondly trips across the United States and Mexico where he would coach and mentor. He leaves behind a legacy of passion and devotion to God, Family and Community and the lessons learned will be cherished by all who got to meet him.
Vicente is survived by his wife Maria Gaona, by sons Vicente M. Gaona Jr. and wife Melissa of Colorado City, Gabriel Gaona of Abilene, and Greg Gaona of Midland, by 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother Johny Gaona and wife Connie of Dallas and by sisters Beatrice Trevino of the Dallas area, Mercedes Aleman and husband Johny of Frisco, and Mary Villareal of Mesquite as well as by several nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by his daughter Gabriella Gaona, by brothers Alfonso Gaona, Alfredo Gaona, and Carlos Gaona, and by sisters SanJuana Ramos and Guadalupe DeJesus Gaona.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Vicente will be held at Saint Ann’s Catholic Church of Colorado City on Monday, September 12th at 10 am with Father Michael Udegbunam officiating. Burial will follow in the Mitchell County Cemetery with pall bearers being Geoffrey Gaona, Vince Gaona III, Joel Gaona, Alex Gaona, , Greg Gaona Jr. and Corbin Gaona. Honorary pallbearers include Geoffrey Gaona Jr, Zayden Gaona IV, Jonathon Williams, Ryian Farris, and Chase Castillo.
Visitation for Vicente will be on Sunday, September 11th from 5-7 pm with a rosary to follow at 7 pm in the Kiker Seale Funeral Home Chapel.
