

COLUMBIA - A service for Carolina Marshall Gribble, 88, will be held at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 1100 Sumter Street, Columbia, SC at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2024 with interment in Elmwood Cemetery, 501 Elmwood Avenue, and a Celebration of Life at The Palmetto Club, 1231 Sumter Street, after interment.
Pallbearers are Dr. Thomas Bryant Edmunds, Jr., John Redden Timmons, Dr. Arthur Allen Madden, C. Harrington Bissell, Bryant McGowan, Theodore Gause Sims, Calhoun Harrelson, Harrison Thompson, Chauncey Hawley, Emmet Howle, and John Marion Sadler.
Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
Mrs. Gribble, widow of the late Richard Neal Gribble, Sr., died March 13, 2024. She was born in Columbia on April 11, 1935, and was the daughter of the late Carolina Chalmers Marshall and George Wilmot Marshall of Columbia. She was a Cum Laude graduate of the University of South Carolina, a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority and Phi Beta Kappa Scholarship Fraternity, and she was a sustaining member of the Junior League Literature Club, the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the State of South Carolina, a former Board Member and Officer of Historic Columbia Foundation and a former Board member of the Ann Pamela Cunningham Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral.
Mrs. Gribble, a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother is survived by her son, George Wilmot Marshall Gribble, her daughter, Mrs. William King Bryan, Jr. (Carolina Lee Gribble) of Isle of Palms, S.C., her grandson, William King Bryan III and his wife, Elizabeth Gaillard Long Bryan and her great grandson, William King Bryan IV (Wills). In addition to her parents, and her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Richard Neal Gribble, Jr.

Mrs. Gribble was blessed by the loving devotion of caregivers Gloria Reese, Callie Watts, Mary Riley, Sylvia DuBose and Eddie Williams, all of Columbia. The family would also like to thank Agape Hospice for their loving assistance.
