

COLUMBIA - Christine Harrison Dudley Warren, age 88, died on October 30, 2015. Mrs. Warren’s family memorial gathering will be held at a later date. Mrs. Warren was born in Pocahontas (Tazewell County), Virginia on August 14, 1927, the fifth child of Hugh Robert Dudley and Cosby Harrison Dudley. The Dudley/Harmon/Harrison families were early 1700 pioneers in southwest Virginia and politically active during its settlement. Her father, Hugh Dudley, was co-owner of three Huntington, West Virginia, 4th Avenue Dudley Retail Department stores for over 25 years. The family was long time residents of the Enslow Park Donald Avenue area. After graduating from Huntington High School in Huntington, West Virginia, Mrs. Warren attended Marshall University for two years and then transferred to the University of Miami, graduating with a B.A. in Sociology. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority and was socially prominent in many fraternal activities. Upon graduation in 1952, she worked in Miami for the Liberty Mutual Insurance Company until her marriage in 1953 to Ivan Jay Warren at the 5th Avenue Baptist Church in Huntington, West Virginia. During their early marriage, she worked for the Johns Mansville Company in Detroit, Michigan. She and her husband lived in West Virginia, Michigan, Maryland, and South Carolina, where they retired in 2001. For the past 14 years, the Warrens have lived at Wildewood Downs Retirement Community, where they have been very active in independent resident activities. Mrs. Warren was active in a number of civic and social organizations and enjoyed cooking, needle pointing, following the stock market and most of all spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Mrs. Warren is predeceased by her parents and sisters, Margaret Elizabeth Dudley Mayes, Kathleen Ione Dudley Folsom and brother, Dr. Hugh Robert Dudley, Jr. She is survived by her two daughters, Anne Dudley Warren of Columbus, Ohio and Paige Warren Colpini and her husband Anthony William Colpini of Carrollton, Georgia. She is also survived by her devoted grandchildren, Anthony Tyler Colpini and his wife Lilla Theus Colpini of Charlotte, North Carolina, Austin Patrick Colpini and his wife Magan Cowart Colpini of Dallas, Texas, Caroline Paige Colpini of Atlanta, Georgia and Seth Harrison Warren and his wife Elizabeth Riemer Warren of Columbus, Ohio. Additional survivors include her brother, William Clarence Dudley, sister-in-law, Patricia Dudley Farquhar, and one new born great grandson, William Harrison Colpini.
