A memorial service for Crystal "Crys" Alexander Tapp, 61, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at Northeast Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be held at 12:00 in the church atrium, prior to the service. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
Crys died Monday, April 11, 2022. Born in York, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Dorothy Smith Boyett and Reverend Jerry Price Alexander. She attended Brookland Cayce High School and was a graduate of The University of South Carolina, 1983. Crys worked at the Nexsen Pruet law firm in Columbia for 26 years before retiring in 2016. In retirement, she filled her days enjoying her children and grandchildren, her real life’s work and joy. She also spent her time practicing yoga, planting flowers, watering said flowers and then cursing the deer that ate the flowers. Crys enjoyed serving the Lord through the NEPC meal ministry although cooking was not her thing. The highlight of each year was the family beach trip that Crys planned and ran, despite Grandaddy the “model safety citizen”.
Surviving are her husband, Clayton Emile Tapp Jr.; daughter, Megan Senn Hoffman (Sam) of Columbia; sons, Bryan Joseph Tapp (Jessica) of Blythewood, and Clayton Emile Tapp III of Columbia; and daughter-in-law, Kimberly Hardwick Klosterman (Ben) of Irmo; grandchildren, Haley Tapp, Peyton Tapp, Trey Tapp, Tyler Tapp, George Hoffman, and Aubrey; step-mother, Patricia Alexander; brother, Derrick Alexander; and sisters, Melanie Amick (David), DeLisa Edwards, and Camille Asmer (Pete). She was predeceased by her father, mother and stepfather, Jimmy Boyett.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Special thanks to Bailey, Erin, Jin, and other staff in the ICU that took such great care of Crys.
