Mr. David Stanfill Clark, 77, died Friday morning, October 29, 2021. Born in Quincy, Florida, he was a son of the late Edgar Eugene Clark and Edna Marvin Stanfill Clark. A graduate of the University of Georgia, he retired as the State Fire Chief from the South Carolina Forestry Commission after 34 years of service. He was a loving husband and father who enjoyed his family, fishing, and the outdoors.
Surviving are his wife LaRue Gooding Clark; children Robert Mathew Clark (Darcie), Eric Stanfill Clark (Mandy), Cecil A. Hanks III (Sandy), Carr Irving Breckenridge Hanks; sisters Margaret C. Smith (David), Karen C. Floyd (John), and Bebe C. Brinkley; and brother Michael Eugene Clark (Brenda), and numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Mr. Clark was predeceased by his sister Georgianna C. Wollschlager (Lynn) and brother-in-law Charles Brinkley. Memorials may be made to his favorite Charity Wounded Warriors.
