Dianne Ruth Lapin Wilkins

COLUMBIA A celebration of life service for Dianne Ruth Lapin Wilkins, 75, will be held from 2 until 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at Trustus Theatre. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family. Mrs. Wilkins died Friday, April 10, 2015. Born in New York, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Danny and Wynne Scherson Lapin. Her love and support of the arts and her brilliant talent will be remembered and lauded for eternity. She was very actively involved in Theater in Florence, S.C. and later here in Columbia, where she remained a company member at Trustus Theatre. She was a fashion icon, a lover of all things beautiful, a singer, an actress, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and a true friend. Dianne never judged. She loved, respected and accepted equally. The world is a sadder place without her, but her essence and beautiful light will live forever in our hearts. Surviving are her husband, Samuel Wilkins; brother, Larry Lapin (Lynn); son, Mark L. Walberg (Robbi); daughter, Caren Bradley (Joshua); three grandchildren, Morgan and Goldie Walbery and Matthew Kasse; niece, Amy (Todd) and family; and nephew, Jeffrey ( Laura) and family. She was predeceased by her mother, who was a vaudeville singer and her father who was a professional musician.
