He was born May 14,1939, in Ridge Spring-Monetta, SC. He is predeceased by his parents, Louie Julius Mills and Virginia Madge Grice; and his two children, Sherri Anne Mills and Dustin Wayne Mills. He worked hard to provide for his family and retired in 2016 from Westinghouse.
Don was an avid sports fan, especially cheering on the LA Dodgers, and his Carolina Gamecocks. He had the heart of an entertainer. He shared his love for music with his family, friends, and those in the community, often being asked to sing at various events. He could be found strumming his guitar and singing his favorite Elvis Presley songs with a voice to which the King himself must be paying homage to in heaven this very moment. When he wasn’t enjoying music, he would be found watching his favorite John Wayne movies or telling jokes.
He lived a life of service to his family and friends. He served the Lord faithfully in various volunteer callings as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, which was a blessing to his congregation and community.
Above all else, his crowning achievement and legacy is how he loved, led, and presided in righteousness over his family, fulfilling the roles of provider and protector, father, and teacher with dignity. He led his family with a kind heart and gentle touch. The love he has for his family is infinite and knowable only to God Almighty Himself. He is survived by his wife, the love of his life and sweetheart, Phyllis Irene Mills, and his children Marci (Chad) Baldwin (Huntersville, NC), Angie Mills (Columbia, SC), Rhonda (Brandon) Schofield (Neosho, MO), Donnie (Tabitha) Mills (Columbia, SC), and Teresa (Matthew) Bolin (Huntersville, NC), as well as 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
