Dorothy Campbell Barrow

COLUMBIA - Dorothy C. Barrow passed away on Friday, August 21, 2015. Born on April 8, 1925 to the late Arthur G. and Pearl W. Campbell, Mrs. Barrow was raised in Statesville, North Carolina. After moving to Columbia as an employee of Southern Bell, she met her future husband, the late James R. Barrow, to whom she was married for 64 years. Mrs. Barrow was a devoted wife and mother, raising four children. She possessed a winsome spirit, a beautiful smile, and the gift of hospitality. Her children’s friends could often be found sitting at her table. She was a member of North Trenholm Baptist Church and the hallmark of her life was her love for the Lord. Surviving are her children, daughter, Susan M. Rentz of Lexington; sons, James R. Barrow (Sue) of Richmond, VA; Thomas A. Barrow (Connie) of Stafford, VA; and Mark S. Barrow (Margaret) of Columbia, SC. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. “Her children rise up and call her blessed.” The family would like to thank Francis Perry for her many years of loving devotion and the staff of the Rice Estates for their professional and compassionate care. A private burial service will be held at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
