

Funeral Services for E. Raymond “Ray” Grant, 85, will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2025 at Greenlawn Baptist Church. Family will receive friends from 11:30-12:00 prior to the service. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Samaritan's Purse, Columbia Humane Society, or to the Greenlawn Baptist Church Piano Fund.
Mr. Ray passed away Thursday, July 3, 2025. Born in Miami, FL, he was the son of the late Elver Raymond Grant, II and Cora Elizabeth Boag Grant. He attended Florida State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. He served his country in the United State Air Force for 4 years. Following his military tenure, he worked for Steelcase Inc. as a Senior District Sales Manager in the Office Furniture Manufacturer and Aflac, retiring after numerous years with both companies.
He was a coin and stamp collector. He also enjoyed all things Florida State whether it was football, basketball, baseball, or any other sport, he followed his alma mater. He was also an avid Jeff Gordon fan on the NASCAR circuit. As a sports fan, he also pulled for the Texas A&M Aggies and Texas Longhorns because of his grandchildren, and the Clemson Tigers for his daughter.
He was a member of the Columbia Rotary Club for over 30 years, earning the Paul Harris Fellow award. Church was important in his life. He attended Greenlawn Baptist Church where he became a deacon as well as a Sunday School Teacher for over 28 years.
Mr. Ray is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Frances Grant; daughters, Bari Lee Grant and Lori Jayne Bridges (Bill); son, Bryan R. Grant (Stacey); step-son, Michael Todd Raines (Julie); grandchildren, Bailey Elizabeth Bridges (Dustin Guyton), Taylor Bishop Bridges, Blake Owen Bridges (Kathy Harvey), John Mark Grant, and Will Bryan Grant; great-grandchildren, Kadence Guyton and Hazel Jayne Bridges; and his precious, beloved cats, Trouble and Mazie.
