COLUMBIA Ethel Halpern Miller, 86, died Saturday, January 23, 2016 in Jacksonville, Fla. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Louis and Pauline Halpern. Ethel came to Columbia from New York in 1959. She was a member of Beth Shalom Synagogue. She was a devoted mother and loved her family. Surviving are her son, Marc S. Miller and his wife, Kathleen of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Miller of Pine City, N.Y.; grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, George Miller in 1967 and her son, Keith Miller in 2004. In addition, she was predeceased by her three siblings. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2016, in Hebrew Benevolent Society Cemetery. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
