COLUMBIA - A graveside service for Fred L. Crawford, 94, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2020 in Elmwood Cemetery. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
Mr. Crawford died Tuesday, December 8, 2020. Born in Spartanburg, he was a son of the late Fred and Missouri Plemmons Crawford. He earned his PhD in 1965 and his JD in 1970 from the University of S.C. He was employed with the U.S. Social Security Administration as a Supplemental Security Income Planning Specialist. His previous employment was as Commission Administrator with the S.C. Commission for the Blind. He authored several articles while working with the S.C. Commission for the Blind and received several awards. He was listed in "Who's Who in America”. His hobbies included ham radio operations, reading and volunteering in the community.
Surviving are his partner, Claude Porter Hunt, and numerous cousins.
