Hal was born on November 20, 1983, to Mr. and Mrs. Harry Roy Lindsey III (Mick and Mary Roberts Lindsey). From an early age, Hal exhibited a remarkable talent for sports—most notably baseball—where he earned numerous accolades and formed lifelong friendships.
A proud honor graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School, Hal continued his education at the University of South Carolina, where he earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees of Engineering in Computer Science. His career in technology and data analytics was diverse and impactful. He was employed by Patrick Industries serving as Director of Enterprise Analytics.
Hal possessed a brilliant mind and a generous heart. He had a rare and beautiful gift for connecting with others—people and animals alike. To many, he was more than a friend; he was a “brother.”
An avid outdoorsman, Hal found his greatest joy by the water—whether fishing for peacock bass in the Amazon, boating on Lake Murray, birding and offshore fishing on Edisto Island, or simply sitting along the banks of the Saluda River. He embraced life with enthusiasm, a spirit of adventure, and a love for new gadgets and technology. His passions often included camping, mountain biking, long-distance running, and annual football trips with close friends.
Hal is survived by his loving parents, Mick and Mary Lindsey; his brother, Dr. William “Brad” Lindsey; sister-in-law, Dr. Sara Lindsey; and cherished nieces, Kate and Emma Lindsey. He is also survived by his uncles, Pinckney Roberts (Liz) and Carl Roberts (Zana); his aunt, Randi Rawls (Jerry); and a host of cousins, extended family, friends, and beloved girlfriend, Madeline Potter.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, from 2-4 PM at the home of Carl and Zana Roberts, 10 Baldwin St., West Columbia, SC 29169. Since parking is limited, please park next door, at the Lindsey family home, 1 Rising Hopes Rd. Casual dress is encouraged.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on July 2, 2025 at Church of the Holy Cross, Stateburg, SC.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the South Carolina Wildlife Federation to honor Hal’s enduring love of nature and the outdoors.
