Born February 7, 1936 he was the son of Grover Young and Elizabeth Gray Young. Predeceased by his wife Lillian Plyler Young, he was a devoted father to his daughter Elizabeth Young Cravens, his son Jerry Glen Young, and his step daughter Doreen Plyler.
He retired from CP&L (now Duke Energy) where he specialized in quality control. Outside of work he enjoyed traveling, was an avid golfer, and loved telling stories about his childhood in Eastover, SC. He was the patriarch of the family including children, his brothers Grover Young Jr, Russell Young, and John Young (deceased) as well as five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He will have a graveside service at Richland Presbyterian Church in Gadsden, SC on February 21, 2025, at 2:00 pm.
