

COLUMBIA - A Funeral Mass for Helen Hostettler Wiggs, 84, will be celebrated Friday, July 1, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Farewell Prayers and Final Commendation will be in Elmwood Memorial Gardens. The Rosary will be recited Thursday, June 30, at 4:00 p.m. with visitation until 8:00 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. Helen Wiggs died Monday, June 27, 2016. Born in Nashville, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late John and Catherine Hostettler. A retired teacher of 33 years, Helen devoted her time to the education of young children. She was a teacher at St. Joseph School, Cardinal Newman High School and St. Peter’s School where her legacy lives on. Helen was the best wife, mom, mamaw, aunt and friend to many. Her love of family, friends, and her devotion to her church have her a place in heaven. Helen was an active member of St. Joseph Church. Her interaction and devotion to the senior respite program were valuable and irreplaceable. Surviving are her five children, son, Robert William Wiggs, Jr. of Columbia; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Max Henderson of Chattanooga, Tenn.; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Lisa Wiggs of Lebanon, Tenn.; daughter, Annette Wiggs and Dale D’Amelio of Columbia; and son, Stephen Wiggs of Columbia; grandchildren, Heather Henderson, Shelley Henderson and Allison Wiggs; great-grandchild, Lily Henderson; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Her cousin Jean Ellis will always have a special place in her heart and will be forever her “sister.” She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Robert W. Wiggs, Sr. The family would like to thank the many friends who called, visited and worked puzzles over the years. Your loving, unconditional companionship will always be remembered.
