Henry "Bill" T. Starling

COLUMBIA - Funeral service for Henry “Bill” Starling, 90, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 7, 2014, at Horrell Hill Baptist Church, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7:00 p.m. Saturday, September 6, 2014, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. Bill died Wednesday, September 3, 2014. Born in Columbia, on December 29, 1923 he was a son of the late Jessie Walter Starling and Sallie Bell Goff Starling. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the European Theater. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and was a member of Horrell Hill Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Annette Starling; son, Billy Starling (Darlene) of Prosperity; step-son, Glenn Causey (Cindy) of Columbia; step-daughter, Carolyn Woodward (Darrell) of Columbia; grandchildren, Whitney Brown (Todd) of Lexington, Stephen Starling (Whitney) of Columbia, Justin Carroll of Columbia, Courtney Starling of Columbia; nine step-grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Miriam Starling of Tenn., Sophie Starling of Columbia; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife of 59 years, Mary W. Starling; siblings, Violet Hill, J.E. Starling, Pete Starling and Tunk Starling.
