ST. MATTHEWS - Graveside service for James “Jim” Edward McCabe, Sr., 86, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at Celestial Memorial Gardens. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family. Jim passed away Friday, December 12, 2014. Born in Smithfield, N.C., he was a son of the late Emmitt and Evelyn McCabe. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII, retired from Gayle Construction and was a member of the American Legion Post #12 in St. Matthews. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Magdalene “Mag” L. McCabe of St. Matthews; sons, James “Jim” McCabe, Jr. (JoAnna) of Lincoln, Ala., Thomas McCabe (Janet) of Swansea; grandchildren, Melissa Manns (Jeremy), Brandon Daniels (Katie); and sister, Betty Jo Cotton. He was predeceased by a brother, Frank McCabe.
