Jane Taylor Boyd

Born in Columbia, SC, Jane was the only daughter of the late Alfred (Fred) and Frances (Dot) Taylor. She attended Bob Jones University and Columbia Nursing School. She worked as a telephone switchboard operator, bookkeeper, secretary, and her most important career as a mother. Jane was a strong Christian and was a member of First Baptist Church in Columbia, where she taught Sunday School; Berkeley Baptist Church; and Holmes Avenue Baptist. As a child she loved sports, especially softball, and spending time with her family and friends. Although she was an only child, she grew up with many first cousins who were like siblings and as an adult enjoyed her brothers and sisters-in-law who welcomed her as a sister.

Surviving are her son, Michael Boyd; her daughter, Kathleen Hamrick; and her grandchildren Ren Boyd, Caroline Boyd, Kira Hamrick and Lilandra Hamrick.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Norman Hugh Boyd.

The family wishes to thank Vicki Drake for being a sister, Linda Jones for her life-long friendship, and all the Boyds, Taylors, Lanphears, Williams, and Bradys that made our family and hearts extra-large.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2024, in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel.
