

Born on March 7, 1933, in Johnson City, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Branscomb Plyler. Jean moved to Columbia at the age of six, grew up in the Shandon area, and graduated from Dreher High School.
She married the love of her life, Lamar Ingram, and together they raised four beautiful daughters. Jean was a lifelong member of Shandon United Methodist Church, where she faithfully served by teaching Sunday school and volunteering as a Brownie Scout leader. She was also an active member of the Junior Women’s Club.
Jean found joy in playing the piano, fishing, spending cherished time with family at the beach, and most of all, playing bridge with her many dear friends. She was a proud member of the Red Hat Ladies Bridge Club and several other bridge clubs throughout the years. Jean also dedicated her time to volunteering with the Midland Stroke Club (Founding member), Easter Seals, and the Tucker Center. She was also an avid USC Gamecock fan.
She is survived by her four daughters: Mary Jo “Jody” Davidson, Chris Young (Mac), Kathy Robinson, and Jeanne Trussell (Tony); Sue Netzloff (AD); all of Chapin, South Carolina. She is also survived by her beloved 7 grandchildren: Holly Davidson of Folly Beach, Brian Davidson of Columbia, Mandy Miller (Chuck) of Chapin, Jeffrey Coleman of Columbia, Jonathon Coleman (Ashley) of Elgin, Ryan Trussell, and Emma Trussell of Chapin, 12 great grandchildren: Xan, Allie and Andrew Fennell of Charleston, Cassidy Pierce (David) of Elgin, Ashley Miller of Savannah, Ga, Wilkes Miller of Chapin, Hailey McElveen of Charleston, Alexis Pacheco (Raul) of Beaufort, Grayson Darden of Greensboro, NC, Jack Coleman of Columbia, Garrett and Emily Coleman of Elgin and 3 great-great grandchildren: Ariel and Riley Jean Pierce of Elgin and Tiago Pacheco of Beaufort.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Lamar W. Ingram, Jr; her brother, Dr. Joseph A Plyler; her son-in-law, William (Gary) McElveen; and her grandson, William (Little Gary) McElveen, Jr and great granddaughter, Taylor McElveen.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, followed by a private graveside inurnment at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
