

While the family is deeply saddened to share that Jean passed away unexpectedly after a very brief battle with metastatic liver cancer; they find comfort in knowing she was surrounded by loved ones in the days leading up to, and at the time of her death.
Born in Stuttgart, Germany on September 8, 1947, Jean dedicated her entire life, both personally and professionally, to caring for others. Jean is a 1965 graduate of Fort Mill High School. Following high school, she earned both her LPN degree and RN certification. Jean also holds an NP in Family Planning and worked as a nurse in various capacities for over 50 years. She lived a beautifully full life through her love of family, music, cooking, and crafts.
Along with her husband of 50 years, William Eugene (Bill) Jackson, Jr., only child, Kara Celeste Jackson Meetze, and son-in-law Christopher Donald Meetze, Sr., Jean is survived by her four grandchildren: Taylor Marie Martin, Mason Alexis (Allie) Martin, Christopher Donald (CJ) Meetze, Jr., and Wynn Josey Meetze.
Jean is also survived by her four brothers: James Lee (Mike) Spratt, Jr. (Beth), Thomas Benjamin (Tom) Spratt III (Alexa), Edgar Francis (Ed) Spratt (Karen) and Charles Griffith Spratt (Shannon).
Jean was predeceased by her parents, James Lee Spratt and Frances Griffith Spratt. As a woman of faith, Jean left a legacy of love which will live on through her large extended family, friends, and all those she touched.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 5th at 2:30 p.m. at Ashland United Methodist Church, 2600 Ashland Road, Columbia, SC. Reception will immediately follow service at Ashland Fellowship Hall where the family will receive guests. Donations can be made in Jean’s honor to the Ashland United Methodist Church Music Ministry.
