Joie Godfrey Solomon

Columbia — A memorial service for Joie Godfrey Solomon, 70, will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 24th, 2026, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, located at 3926 Devine Street. A reception will immediately follow on site.

Joie, a resident of Columbia, passed away at her home on Sunday, May 17th, 2026. She was born in Tifton, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Lee Godfrey and Jerris Batson Godfrey.

She is survived by her husband and three children: Steve Solomon, Brian Godfrey, Jamie Junis (Steven) and Chad Solomon (Alison). She also leaves behind seven grandchildren—Layne Godfrey, Camryn Junis, Caleb Junis, Charlotte Solomon, Ford Solomon, Olivia Solomon & Ellis Solomon. Also surviving are her sisters, Kerri (Randy) and Elizabeth (Mike).

Joie graduated from Lower Richland High School in 1974 and later earned her associates degree in accounting, where she used her skills to work as an accountant for Civil Service. After 40 years of service, Joie retired to spend more time with her grandchildren.

As the matriarch of her family, Joie cherished spending time with her children, and especially her grandchildren. Her favorite pastimes included family gatherings during holidays, visiting the beach, family cruises and ballroom dancing. She was the most selfless, giving and strongest mother and wife to her family, and will be missed greatly.
