

COLUMBIA Funeral service for Kellie Mae “Dinky” Ward Howle, 88, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at Greenlawn Baptist Church, 6612 Garners Ferry Road, Columbia, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Terry Cagle, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 12 until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family. Mrs. Howle died Saturday, February 28, 2015. Known as “Dinky” to her family and friends, she was born April 26, 1926, in Florence County (Elim Community), a daughter of the late Kelly J. and Lena Mae Langston Ward. She was married for 59 years to Harry Clark Howle, who predeceased her in 2003. Surviving are her sons, K. Clark Howle (Sandra) of Columbia, Victor F. Howle (Nancy H.) of Cary, N.C., Timothy H. Howle (Nancy L.) of West End, N.C., Larry J. Howle of Columbia, Alan F. Howle (Barbara), of Columbia; grandchildren, Tina H. Herring of Fuquay-Varina, N.C., Matthew C. Howle of Fayetteville, N.C., T. Patrick Howle of Bentonville, Ark., Martin C. Howle of Rock Hill, Bryan J. Howle of Columbia; six great-grandchildren, Elise, Brice and Brock Herring, Austin and Luke Howle and Lillian Howle; many caring nieces and nephews; and her loving orange tiger cat, “Monk.” In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Gloria C. Ward Humphries-Rowell of Newton, N.C., and a brother, William J. Ward of Moncks Corner. The family extends thanks to Dr. J. Joseph Lawton III, the Cardiology Department at Providence Heart Hospital, members of the Patrick-Woodfin Sunday School class and caring friends of Greenlawn Baptist Church.
