Kenneth Michael Meadows

COLUMBIA, SC. - A memorial service for Kenneth Michael “Mike” Meadows, 73, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Eastminster Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends at the church following the service in the breezeway/Thompson Hall. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.

Mr. Meadows passed away Sunday, February 6, 2022. Born in Huntington, WV, he was a son of the late Carl Clyde and Anna Mildred Dunkle Meadows. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Mike graduated from Marshall University in Huntington, WV. with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1976. Before working for First Choice Mortgage, he worked in the hotel hospitality industry. After retirement, he was a part-time funeral assistant for Dunbar Funeral Home, where he worked from November 2013 until the day before his passing. He was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church and loved working in his yard and caring for his flowers. He enjoyed caring for his grandchildren and playing bridge.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Carol Williford Meadows; his sister, Jean Meadows Lucas (husband, Del); nephews, Ryan Lucas (wife, Stacey), Justin Lucas (wife, Amy); his brother, Carl D. Meadows (wife, Young); nephews, Eric and Jon Meadows; seven great-nieces and nephews; his stepson, Drake Cobia (wife, McKeever); stepdaughters, Natalie Reynolds (husband, Brian), Madeline Van Metre (husband, Stephen); five grandchildren and his Tuxedo cat, Figaro. He was predeceased by his parents, Carl Clyde and Anna Mildred Dunkle Meadows.

As a loving stepfather, Mike helped to guide and shape his stepchildren, and make the home brighter. Most importantly, he showed love for his wife, his stepchildren and his grandchildren. His stepchildren always said, “A stepparent is so much more than just a parent. They made the choice to love when they didn’t have to.” ♥️
