It is with profound sorrow that the family of Mr. Luby Allen “Ray” Raynor announces his departure from this life on May 17, 2024, at the age of 93. Mr. Raynor, a noble and respected figure, breathed his last surrounded by family at his daughter’s residence in Kershaw, SC. A man of humble beginnings, he was born to the late Archie Raynor and Martha Ann “Annie” Edwards in the pastoral lands of Newton Grove, Sampson County, NC.
The Raynor family invites you to join them in a service of remembrance at 1:00 pm, Friday, May 24, 2024, at First Baptist Church of Lykesland, situated at 2712 Trotter Road, Hopkins, SC. Those who wish to pay their respects may do so during a visitation commencing at 12:30 pm, prior to the service at the church. The funeral service will be a testament to Ray’s valorous life, followed by this interment in Greenlawn Memorial Park, located at 845 Leesburg Road at Garners Ferry Road, Columbia, SC.
As the twilight of his generation, Mr. Raynor’s acquaintances are few, and the family seeks the comfort of your presence to honor this distinguished veteran of the Korean and Vietnam conflicts.
Luby’s storied life as a retired United States Army Veteran is marked by his unwavering service to his country and the love he held for his late wife, Betty Grace Rich Raynor. He is survived by his daughter, Betty Ann Raynor-Davis (and husband Mike); his sons, Donald Ray Raynor, David Allen Raynor, and Michael Lynn Raynor; four grandchildren, Christopher, Jesse, Robert, and Daniel; and four great-grandchildren.
Rest in peace, Mr. Raynor. Your memory will be enshrined in the hearts of all who knew you, forevermore.
