

COLUMBIA - Mary Inman Talbot Hill passed away peacefully on Monday, April 27. Mary Inman, daughter of the late Hugh Inman Talbot and Julia Maude Talbot, was born on January 30, 1925 in Warm Springs, Georgia. As a little girl, Mary Inman met President Franklin Roosevelt when he visited Warm Springs and developed a life-long admiration for him. Mary Inman graduated from Marietta (GA) High School and attended the University of Georgia. During WWII she worked as a secretary at Bell Aircraft. She met James Chisolm Hill, Jr., and upon his return from service in the US Army Air Corps in the South Pacific, they were married and moved to Columbia, SC. where they spent the rest of their lives. She is predeceased by her husband, James Chisolm Hill, Jr. and sisters Suzanne Pope, Lucy McCall and Hillda Aycock. She is survived by her daughter Julia Ellen Hill and long-time love Richard Davis; nephew W. James McCall, Jr. and wife Ginger, nephew John Pope, Jr. and niece Suzanne Merrill. Mary Inman’s daughter Julia Ellen wishes to sincerely thank the nurses and CNAs at NHC Parklane Hall 300 for their love, kindness and care and for sharing and enjoying Mary Inman’s (sometimes naughty) sense of humor. Special gratitude to Tara Kirkland, Ambrie “Sarah Elizabeth” Washington-Boyd, Dorothy Dixon, Joanne Roberson. Thanks also to Nita, Chan, Janice, Jackie, Pam O., Mary, Glenda, Sheree. A memorial celebration of Mary Inman’s life will be held at noon on Saturday, May 9 in the Terrace Room at Senate Plaza, 1520 Senate Street, Columbia, SC.
