A native of Columbia, Mary Jo was born March 3, 1928 to George and Ethel Denton Autry. She attended Wingate College in Monroe, N.C. Mary Jo was devoted to her husband and their medical practice where they worked alongside each other for many years, sharing adventures traveling the world together to various medical conferences. She was a voracious reader, a creative entertainer, loved the challenge of a good puzzle and needlepoint. Mary Jo loved life and lived it to the fullest up until her last day where she enjoyed Christmas lights on Daniel Island and the ambiance of happy hour listening to a pianist play Christmas carols. She will be remembered for her bossy attitude that we all secretly loved about her. She was feisty and was a fighter, beating COVID at 92. Most importantly, she loved the Lord, her family and socializing with friends.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Pierre LaBorde; a brother, William Autry; and a baby boy who passed three days after birth. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Elaine Rowles (Everett), Jean Jones (Steve), Douglas Sill (Donna); six grandchildren, Tracy Kerr (Bradley), Kim Russ, Sandy Hornung, Sherry Trader (Mark), Regan Moore (Landon), Ashley Potteiger, JPaul Murillo, Courtney Murillo; thirteen great-grandchildren; and her beloved cousins, Billy, Andy, JoeJoe Denton.
