

He was the beloved son of the late Irl Leet, Jane Callahan Denton and Stepfather, Durwood D. Denton. Mike was born in Pewee Valley Kentucky, was a graduate of Oldham County High School and Eastern Kentucky University, and a member of Trenholm Road United Methodist Church where he served in various roles with operating the camera being is most cherished. Mike served his country as a member of the Armed Services. Mike’s career highlights took him through tenures at Citizen’s Fidelity (Louisville KY) First Union (Charlotte NC), Celanese (Charlotte NC), Colonial Life (Columbia, SC), and Sonoco (Columbia). He served in various roles in his career to include Employee Benefits Manager and Human Resources Information Systems Analyst.
Mike is survived by Joyce Messinger Leet, his devoted wife of 56 years and his son Brian Michael Leet. He is also survived by his sisters and brothers by marriage: Janice Mozeleski, Joan Goff (Tom), Tom Messinger (Sandy), Laura Marlin (Troy), Bob Denton (Betty), Frank Denton, Sharon Taylor, Carolyn Hora, and Lisa Mahoney plus several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Mike had a vision for light and composition which he expressed through his passion for photography. His joy was in travelling the world and experiencing it with his family and friends. His true love though was for his family, to whom he knew no sacrifice too dear.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Medical University of South Carolina for their tender care during Mike's illness.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, September 29, 2025 at Trenholm Road United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends following the service in the church’s dining room.
