O. Troy Ott, 60, went home to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Sunday, July 20, 2025. Born in Orangeburg, SC, son of the late O.E. Ott and Betty Jean Fogle Ott, Troy was a man of strong faith who loved his family and put God at the center of their lives. An avid outdoorsman, he shared his love for nature with his wife and children hiking God’s creation, from the mountains in the Highlands of North Carolina to Kiawah Beach in South Carolina. At home in Lake Katharine, his annual planting of Dragon Wing Red Begonias was enjoyed by all who walked in the neighborhood. It was his gift to them. As a Broker/Realtor in the Midlands he helped those who required extra help with buying or selling their property. For this he became known as the ‘Rainmaker’ and ‘the hardest working Realtor in Columbia’. Unbeknownst to many, Troy was also a published author (https://www.amazon.com/Laymans-Guide-Self-Actualization-Transcendence/dp/B09P48DDS3).
He is survived and loved by his devoted wife of 28 years, Dr. Pam Petro-Ott; daughter, Michaela Ann Ott; son, Alexander Ott; sister, Pam Kinard, and numerous family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty J. Ott; father, O. E. Ott; sister, Deborah Estes; and father-in-law, John Petro.
Services for Mr. Ott will be held at Dunbar Funeral Home on Devine in Columbia, SC on Sunday, July 27th at 4pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to the Oliver Gospel Mission, an organization he passionately cared for and regularly contributed to (https://www.olivergospel.org/); Or, to the family’s GoFundMe page found at (https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-give-michaelas-dad-a-proper-farewell).
