Robyn graduated from Newark High School in 1986, where she served on the yearbook committee and excelled at tennis. At Newark, Robyn met lifelong friends, Dan Carr, Carl Paca, Ann Osborne, and Barbara “Barbie” Tobler.
In the early nineties, Robyn moved to South Carolina, where she met her husband, Sam on a blind date. The two were married on May 26, 1996, in Lexington, South Carolina. From this marriage, Robyn gained bonus son, Rob, and children, Ashlyn and Brett.
During her first years in South Carolina, Robyn became an accomplished realtor. After her real estate tenure, Robyn began working for Southern Living at Home, where she flourished into a successful sales representative. Robyn later attended the Kenneth Shuler School of Cosmetology and obtained her esthetician’s license. With sheer intellect, intuition, and work ethic, Robyn excelled in her esthetic studies and earned her place as valedictorian of her class. Post-graduation, Robyn enjoyed working as an esthetician and loved practicing her techniques on her Guinea pig family.
These same qualities served Robyn well as she went on to earn her caregiver’s certification. As a benevolent caregiver, Robyn took care of her clients by providing companionship and personal care. Robyn was beloved by all her clients, but most of all, by “Mr. Ken.”
Unequivocally, the occupation Robyn cherished the most was being a mother. Robyn’s unmatched compassion and empathy made her heart radiate a type of love that only the best of mothers can provide.
Rejoicing in Heaven with Robyn are her “Nanny,” Francis Taylor; “Daddy-O,” Chester Taylor; stepmother, Christine “Gran-C” Whaley; and cherished friends: Tisha Jeffcoat, Richard “Dickie” Kinnaman, and Fran Osborne. In addition, Robyn is reunited with her adored animal companions that have been waiting for her across the Rainbow Bridge: Sophie, Roxy, Tasha, Mingo, Bobbie, Benji, and her “soulcat,” Sir George Russell.
Robyn leaves behind husband, Sam; stepson, Rob McEwen (Annie); daughter, Ashlyn (Tate Feaster); son, Brett (Bradyn West); father, Jerry Whaley (Leslie); mother, Linda McClure (Claude); brother, Kyle McClure (Jennifer); sister, Melissa McClure Smith (Tyson); grandchildren, Lizzie and Kate McEwen; nieces, Sloan Kennedy and Claire and Kate McClure; nephew, Colin Kennedy; her loving friends, Mindy Bundrick and Darlene Smith; loyal companion, Dash; “grandcat,” O’Malley; and her adored cats, Gizzer and Grace Ann. Additional survivors include many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and nephews.
