I was staying with Ron when he passed, and we had roomed together previously. Together we shared the challenges of growing old in a world that, too often, seemed more than we could bear. I will always treasure his wit, his sensitivity, and his willingness to be there for others, over a cup of coffee at Five Points or helping the homeless on the computer downtown. The world is a somewhat harsher place without my good friend, but it is also blessed to have had his loving presence for all these years. I will miss him terribly. All I can offer are my love, my prayers, and a friendship that still continues to grow stronger every day.

when I first went out into the world alone in 1970, Ronnie was first person that I met. We became friends and he would always helped me at school. He was my best man at my wedding and he was the godfather to my oldest daughter. We lost touch for 40 years and have recently reconnected threw facebook. Now he is gone and I never got to say goodbye. I never knew anyone that loved music more than him.

goodbye Ronnie

Dear Steve and Family,

I am so sorry for your loss.

Through it all, Ronnie has always been one of the most important people in my life, and I will miss him dearly.

He and I were great travel pals in the 70s and 80s. To Edisto, up and down the east coast, to New Orleans, to Kenya…

One of my fondest memories occurred enroute from New Orleans to Amelia Island (it didn’t look that far on the map). We stopped at Biloxi and slow danced on the beach to Hurt So Bad (Little Anthony and the Imperials). This is how I best remember him. Before life got too complicated.

Hopefully today he is off square dancing with your mother.

With love, Gwen Brown

So many memories with Ronnie after his family moved to Blythewood right down the rode from us. Riding horses, after school funny times. He loved my sister Judy also who also has passed, I know she was happy to see him. God Blessing to the family!!
