Rosann Schwartz Canady

A funeral service for Rosann Schwartz Canady, 89, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel. Burial will follow in the cemetery. A Bereavement Gathering will be held at Tree of Life Congregation; 6719 N. Trenholm Road; Columbia, SC 29206 immediately following the service at 4:00 p.m.

Rosann passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2025. Born in Columbia, SC, she was the daughter of the late Albert Schwartz and Louise Fabrizio Schwartz. A graduate of Columbia High School, Class of 1953, she attended the University of South Carolina for two years. Rosann began taking dance lessons at two and a half years old and went on to become a prima ballerina for eight years, training with renowned instructors in Atlanta, New York, Chicago, and throughout South Carolina.

Rosann taught at the Foster School of Dance for 15 years and was a member of The Original Carolina Ballet Company for 18 years. She owned the Rosann Dance Academy for 35 years and co-owned the Lexington School of Dance for 30 years, teaching in communities across the state, including Batesburg, Newberry, and Winnsboro.

She proudly represented South Carolina in two national dance competitions, where she earned 12 First Place national trophies. Rosann was also a former member of the Professional Dance Teachers of America.

Surviving are her husband, Daniel Louis Canady; stepdaughters, Melissa Ann Canady, and Dana Lee Stilwell (John); stepson, Mark Allen Canady (Angela); one grandchild, Jessica Bultman; cousin, Sylvia Brandies; and numerous step-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her son, Albert B. Bultman, and brother, Carl Schwartz.
