Sandra Whitaker Hipp

COLUMBIA – Celebration of Life service for Sandra Whitaker Hipp, 82, will be held at 1:30 pm Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:30 pm.

Mrs. Hipp passed away on May 24, 2024. Born March 19, 1942, in Columbia, SC, she was the daughter of the late Henry Lucius Whitaker and Frances Sanders Whitaker. Sandra graduated from Dreher High School, where she met her husband of fifty-two years, Bobby Hipp. After high school, she attended the University of South Carolina, and later went to work for Standard Federal Saving Bank. After receiving her appraisals license, she went to work with her father at Whitaker Appraisals. She was a member of Shandon United Methodist Church for over 57 years. Sandra was known for her love of decorating and her passion for gardening.

Surviving are daughters, Allison Hipp Counts (Warren) of Columbia, and Jennifer Hipp McAlpin (Michael) of Milton, GA; grandchildren, Lucy Counts, Bobby Counts, Abby McAlpin and Suzy McAlpin; sister, Pamela Whitaker Dhamer (Bob) of Lake Forest, Illinois; sister-in-law, Patricia Hipp Bellows (George) of Charleston, SC; and many loved nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the South Carolina Wildlife Department of Natural Resources, 1000 Assembly Street, Columbia, SC 29201.
