Born in Columbia, SC, she was the daughter of the late James Drake Stone and Cora Lee Cribb. A graduate of Keenan High School, she studied for two years at Spartanburg Methodist College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of South Carolina. She worked as a registered nurse for 20 years at Providence Hospital and later as a school nurse at Lexington Middle School. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing crafts, talking with friends, and shopping.
Surviving are her son, John Taylor Thompson, Jr. of West Columbia, SC; two nephews, Branden Jervy and Jason Stone.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, JD Stone and Marsha Jervy.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
