

COLUMBIA A memorial service for Sara Elizabeth Croft, 78, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 28, 2016, at Incarnation Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Kris Litman-Koon officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A committal service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2016, in Chester Memorial Gardens, with Pastor Jeff Gulish officiating. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family. Ms. Croft died Monday, July 25, 2016, at her home in Columbia. She was born in Johnston, S.C. and grew up in Chester, S.C. A daughter of the late William Brice and Sara Ann Yonce Croft, she graduated from Chester High School. Upon graduation from Winthrop University, Lib began her long career in the public sector as secretary to the Richland County Delegation. This job transitioned to the South Carolina Senate, and the remainder of her career was spent working for State Senators and/or Legislative Committees. Notably, over the course of her career, she worked with Senator Walter J. Bristow, Jr., Senator Frank L. Roddey, Senator Horace C. Smith and Senator Hugh K. Leatherman, Sr., with the Joint Bond Review Committee. She was a voracious reader who thoroughly enjoyed staying informed on current events and was an involved member of the Mary and Martha Circle at Incarnation Lutheran Church. Lib was a member of the “Who Dealt” bridge club for over 50 years, a life-long animal lover and a dedicated shopper. Surviving are her sisters, Charlotte Ann King of Sharon, S.C., Frances Croft Hancock of Rock Hill; nephews, Will Hancock (Kristy) of Chester, Tommy Whitesides (Amy) of Sharon; nieces, Patty Keenan (Jeff) of Chester, Katie Smith of Charleston; and many beloved great-nieces and nephews.
