Susan Miller Burch

Susan Miller Burch, 67, passed away on October 4th, 2022, after a long battle against ovarian cancer. She was born in Newberry SC to James and Helen Miller. She graduated from Newberry High School before moving to Columbia SC, where she married Jim Burch and had two sons, Patrick and Brett Burch. Susan was close to and will remain in the hearts of many. She is survived by her mother Helen Miller, sons Patrick (Kristen) and Brett Burch, Jim Burch and family; sisters Gayle Leitzsey (Earl) and Kay Standridge (Jimmy), nieces Melissa Charles (JR, Emily, and Jack) and Erica Standridge, nephew Ryan Standridge in addition to cousins and friends whom she was close to. Susan was an incredible person, making every Christmas magical, every trip an adventure, every trouble disappear, and every day so much better. She worked at the VA Hospital, Accurate Maps, Inc., and Blue Cross Blue Shield, where she retired after 20 years, making lasting relationships wherever she went. Susan could talk to anyone, put a smile on even the most dour faces, and enjoyed reading a book by the fire or on a sandy beach.
