

COLUMBIA - A funeral service for Susanne Ruff Kennedy, 85, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 5, 2022 at Centennial ARP Church, 1413 Laurel Street, with burial in Roof-Hendrix Cemetery in Lexington. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel.
Mrs. Kennedy died Sunday, April 24, 2022. Born June 26, 1936 in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late F. Burley Ruff and Christine Roof Ruff. She was the widow of the late Dr. Marion Buist Kennedy, Jr.
Mrs. Kennedy is survived by her son, Burley Ruff Kennedy (fiancé, Teresa White) of Lexington; grandson, Daniel Robert Kennedy of Lexington; granddaughter, Hannah Elizabeth Kennedy of Lexington; sister, Schrader Randall (Jim) of Phoenix AZ; niece, Christi Sturdevant (Monte) of Phoenix, AZ; nephews, Dr. Jeff Randall (Kelly) of Lawrence, KS, Preston Randall (Lauri) of Austin, TX, Drew Randall of Austin, TX. She is also survived by a number of great-nephews and great-nieces and very close cousins, Mary Alva Hornsby of Irmo, SC and Colonel Tom Brown of Summerville, SC.
Mrs. Kennedy was a graduate of the University of S.C. with a BS degree in chemistry and math. She retired from the South Carolina State Fair, where she first worked as a child delivering messages because there were no phones on the grounds. Here she served as Treasurer for nearly 50 years, then Treasurer Emeritus since 2011.
She was a lifelong member at Centennial ARP Church since the age of four. At Centennial, she was a member of the Unity Edwards Sunday School Class, a member of the Mary Martha Circle. In addition, she was elected to the Deaconate for two terms, served as a member of the Naomi Widows Ministry and served as President of the Centennial Foundation.
Mrs. Kennedy loved Bonclarken, ARP Conference Center at Flat Rock NC and volunteered for many years at “Camp Joy”, “Work Week” and “Music Conference”.
She had a faithful love for her Lord and Savior, a deep love for her family and her many Christian friends. A special thanks is given to her friend, Peggy Howard, who never failed to help when needed.
