William Lafayette Campbell Jr.

COLUMBIA - A memorial service for William Lafayette Campbell, Jr., 83, will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, November 6, 2015, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service until 6:00 p.m. at the chapel. Mr. Campbell died Tuesday, November 3, 2015. Born in Miami, Florida, he was a son of the late William L. Campbell, Sr. and Merle George Schele. Mr. Campbell enlisted in the United States Marine Corp in 1951 and served in Korea for nine months. Afterwards, he worked for Florida Game and Fish Commission as a wildlife officer. In 1969, he moved to Columbia with his family and worked for Robinson Equipment Company for over 25 years. Surviving are his daughter, Robin Campbell (Laura Pfefferkorn) of Columbia; son, Jeff Herndon and his wife, Susan of Irmo, and their children, Kellie Herndon and Michelle Herndon; son, Edward Herndon and his wife, Nancy, of Canyon Lakes, Texas; sons, Timothy Campbell and Troy Campbell, both of Panama City, Florida; and brother, Robert Campbell and his daughters, Joanie and Brenda. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Georgia Ruche Sexton Campbell.
