William Raymond Greene, born on October 31, 1944, in Columbia, SC to the late Meltiah Bourne Greene and Ruth Williams Greene, passed away surrounded by family January 22, 2026. Raymond was predeceased by his loving wife, Cynthia Prince Greene.
He had a servant's heart and was a longtime member of Kilbourne Park Baptist Church, which was founded by his grandmother, Annie Greene in 1918. He served faithfully for many years. He never forgot a face and he greeted everyone with the warmest of smiles. If you knew Raymond, you knew the love of his lord and savior Jesus Christ. He loved to serve his church. He prepared and served Wednesday night suppers, Family Fun Friday meals, and Men's breakfast with his Pastor and Deacons at the church. Mr. Greene and his late wife Cynthia opened their hearts and home to 18 foster children through the years. He loved working in his garden, wood working in his shop, and fishing at the beach. He was known as the "king of the pier" when he fished for flounder. Everyone wanted to know his "secret" to success. Of the many things he was known for, his family was his proudest earthly accomplishment.
Raymond is survived by his four daughters, Patricia Peake (Ben) of Ridgeway, SC, Pamela Nesbitt of Columbia, SC, Marcelle Schaad (Steve) of Redmond, OR, Paula Richburg (Kenneth) of Lexington, SC, and son James Nesbitt of Newberry, SC; grandchildren, Stephen Johnson (Michelle), Stephanie Johnson, Christopher Worrell (Sarah), Brent Richburg, Travis Richburg (Megan), Quenna Richburg, Justin Lewis; great-grandchildren, Ryan Pelzer, Houston Way, Andrew Johnson, Walker James Worrell; brother, Meltiah Bourne Greene III (Scottie) of Murrells Inlet, SC; sister, Anne Greene Stokes of Lexington; and nephew, William Christopher Yakshaw (Kristy) of Lexington.

Burial will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
