

COLUMBIA - William “Will” Calhoun Salley of Columbia, passed away peacefully at his home Sunday after a lengthy illness. Born March 15, 1961 to Nellwyn Reid and Maynard C. Salley, Will grew up in Forest Acres, attending Richland Northeast High School and graduating with a Media Arts degree from USC. He ran his own post production media company. Will was a beloved member of the local music scene as a guitarist and vocalist in numerous bands. He loved his native Columbia and poured himself into helping local musicians. Will had an encyclopedic knowledge of history and music styles, but loved rhythm & blues. All will remember him as friendly, down to earth, and unbelievably kind with his time, generosity, and music. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Alison Butler Salley; sister, Rebecca Salley Fincher (Bill); brother, Maynard C. Salley, Jr. (Jodie); mother-in-law, Shirley Butler; brother-in-law, Johnny Butler (Susan); sister-in-law Kim Bennett (Ben); a niece; four nephews; and cousins. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in Greenlawn Memorial Park Serenity Gardens, 6601 Windwan Drive, Columbia, SC 29209.
