

HOPKINS - William Robert Sandy, 55, of Hopkins, SC, passed away early Thursday, February 18, 2016 at home surrounded by his family from pancreatic cancer. He left behind his beloved wife of 36 years, Sherri; and son, Michael Sandy (Aida). He will be greatly missed by all his family, especially his four siblings, Debbie Morrison, Lynn Sandy, George Sandy and Rebecca Allen. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, John and Adaline Sandy and father-in-law, Ronald Boyer. Bill grew up near Clarksburg, West Virginia where he graduated from Roosevelt-Wilson High School. He began his career working with mentally handicapped adults. Bill, Sherri and infant Michael then moved to South Carolina where he continued in this caring profession for several years. He earned his Associates Degree from Midlands Technical College where he was also employed as Director of IT Student Services until his retirement in 2015. His love of Corvettes was second only to the love and loyalty he had for his family. Bill was a co-founder of the Corvette Renegades Club. He was a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church in Eastover. He enjoyed spending time with family, composing music, designing websites, enjoying craft beer, and traveling, with Key West as his favorite destination. Bill's Celebration of Life will be held in the Fellowship Hall at Lebanon United Methodist Church at 4:30 pm on Saturday, February 27, 2016.
