Born September 17, 1933 to Emile Tousignant and Anna Leblanc Tousignant, he grew up in Concord and was a 1951 graduate of Concord High School. Following graduation, he proudly served in the US Navy for four years before returning home to marry his childhood sweetheart, Constance Roy Tousignant, who predeceased him in 2010.
After receiving a BA in education from Keene State College, he entered the teaching profession. After working in the Pembroke School District as a teacher and administrator during the 1960’s, he returned to Concord and served as the principal of Conant School from 1970 until his retirement in 1993. Affectionately known by students, staff and parents by the nickname “Mr. T.”, he was a dedicated advocate of quality education, working actively to create opportunities for teachers and students to reach their potential. In recognition of his contributions to the education of Concord students, the Conant School PTO established a scholarship in his name for graduating seniors.
A dedicated veteran, he was an active member of American Legion Post #21 for many years. Supporting the American Legion’s social and educational programs, he served as Chaplain for over 15 years until his death. A devoted Catholic, he was also actively involved in many ministries over his lifetime, most recently as a teacher, Eucharistic minister and lector at Sacred Heart Church.
