Gladys (Anderson) Peterson, 89, of Concord and formerly of Saxtons River and Northfield, Vt., passed away peacefully Jan. 8, 2015, at Hospice House in Concord with her loving family at her side.
Gladys was born March 3, 1925, in Northfield, Vt., to Almeda (Sanderson) and Chester Anderson. She graduated from Northfield High School in 1942 and married Arthur O. Peterson, Jr. (Pete) on Sept. 17, 1949, in Northfield, Vt. Being a loving and dedicated wife to Pete and being a loving and caring mother to their four children was Gladys's most cherished role.
She was an active member of the United Church of Christ in Northfield where she sang in the choir, served on numerous boards, and was an active member of the Women's Fellowship. She was employed by the Northfield Trust Company and later at Norwich University.
Gladys and Pete resided in Northfield, Vt., until 1975, when they moved to Saxtons River, Vt.. Gladys was employed at Vermont Academy until her retirement. She was an active member of Christ's Church in Saxtons River. She loved to sing in the choir and played hand bells at church. She was also a member of the Keene Pops Choir. She enjoyed playing the piano and singing with family and friends. Gladys and Pete moved to Pleasant View Retirement in Concord in 2003 to be closer to their family.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 65 years, Pete, and their children Ann and (Peter) Bradley of Goffstown, Laura and (Blair) Jasie of Dennis, Mass., David and (Tiffany) Peterson of Bedford, and Carol LaRose of Whitehall, N.Y., and grandchildren Joshua, Adam, Keith, and Jared Jasie; Justin, Ashley, Bryan, Matthew, Elizabeth, Cecilia, and Thomas Peterson; and Christina and Michael LaRose. She was predeceased by both her parents.
There will be a memorial service to celebrate Gladys's life Jan. 17, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Pleasant View Retirement, 227 Pleasant St., Concord, officiated by the Most Rev. Leanne Tigert. A reception will follow the service. Bennett Funeral Home in Concord is in charge of arrangements.
