

BOW Henry Mead Herrick, 76, passed away at Hospice House in Concord on March 28, 2017.
He was born February 13, 1941 to Edward A. and Katherine (Mead) Herrick in Bangor, Maine. The Herrick Family lived in several New England communities including Chocorua and Gilmanton, settling in Jaffrey in 1954. Following graduation from Conant High School in Jaffrey, Mead enlisted in the United States Air Force. Mead and his wife Kay moved to Bow in 1974.
Mead received his Private Pilot License in 1968; he was a flight instructor in Georgia and New Hampshire. Mead retired in 2003 after being employed by the State of New Hampshire for 30 years. He retired as Chief of Operations for the Division of Emergency Management.
Lt. Col. Mead Herrick was the longest serving volunteer member of New Hampshire Civil Air Patrol. He joined as a cadet and continued for 61 years with Emergency Services, and Search and Rescue Operations within the Northeast. He will be inducted into the NH Civil Air Patrol Walk of Service.
He served as Assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 75 of Bow for 20 years. He was a member of the Bow Community Men’s Club. In 2011 Mead received a Spirit of New Hampshire Volunteer Service Award.
Members of his family include his wife of 45 years, Kay (Crosby) Herrick; his sons, Eben C. Herrick and Peter C. Herrick both of Concord; his brother Thomas H. Herrick and his wife Margaret of Hampton; his mother-in-law, Marion A. Crosby of Dunbarton; brothers-in-law, Peter R. Crosby of Concord, Thomas J. Crosby of Rochester and Jeff A. Crosby and his wife Bronda of Dunbarton; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends are invited to gather and reminisce at Audubon Society of New Hampshire, 84 Silk Farm Road, Concord, NH, between the hours of 2 and 5pm on Sunday, April 9, 2017.
A private burial will be at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations in Mead’s memory may be made to Hospice House, Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association, 30 Pillsbury Street Concord, NH 03301.
