Joan Merrill Chase

Born in Arlington, MA she was the daughter of Raymond Earl and Mary (Hillman) Merrill.

Ms Chase was a graduate of Pembroke Academy. She was a graduate of Cornell University School of Nursing.

She worked as a registered nurse at Concord Hospital School of Nursing and also for the Manchester VNA. She enjoyed reading, drawing, sculpting, painting, music and writing. She served as past President of the Residents Council at the nursing home and was an advocate for the mentally ill.

Survivors include her son Peter Chase and his wife Sharon of Bow; her daughter Michele Robertson and her husband Bradley of Pembroke; her brother Raymond Merrill and his wife Frances of Newburyport, MA; her sister Elizabeth Jacobs of Pembroke; and her four grandchildren, Andrew and Eric Chase and Jacob and Kayleigh Robertson.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 7, 2010 from 6pm-8pm at the Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main Street, Concord.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 8, 2010 at 11am at the 1st Congregational Church of Pembroke, 301 Pembroke Street, Pembroke, NH.

Graveside services will follow at 2pm at Blossom Hill Cemetery in Concord.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the activities department at the Merrimack County Nursing Home, 325 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH 03303.
