He was born in Concord on July 20, 1917 a son of Harry W. Sr. and Hattie M. (Hill) Maxfield.
Joe and his late wife Edith built their own home. Joe lived in the home for 60 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, caning chairs and feeding and watching birds.
Joe is predeceased by his wife, Edith and all his 9 siblings.
He is survived by his son, Martin Maxfield of Concord; a daughter, Virginia (Maxfield) King and her husband, Paul of Webster; 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
