Bob was born June 20 1938 to Thomas and Catherine (Moran) O’Brien at their home in Melrose, Ma. One of six children, Bob realized the importance of family and responsibility. He worked at a young age to help support his family and spent his free time playing baseball. After High School, Bob attended Boston College before getting the call from Uncle Sam. He was drafted into the Army in 1961, and spent most of his military career in Germany, until his discharge in 1967.
Upon his return, Mr. O met and married the love of his life, Helene. Together, they raised two daughters, Mary-Lee and Kelly and made their home in Pembroke. In his profession as a Safety Engineer, he worked for Kemper Insurance and Peerless (Liberty Mutual). His most important job was family man. Supporting Helene, as the man behind the curtain playing the music at the O’Brien Dance Studio recitals for over 40 years, and doing whatever was needed for his daughters to enjoy their passion in the horse world, or making the best chocolate chip cookies. In his down time, he could be found on his deck with his dog, feeding the birds, or with his friend, Elias, having coffee and a great debate.
Bob leaves his wife, Helene, his daughter Kelly and husband Chris Normandeau, his grandchildren Ben and Emma Normandeau, sisters Kathleen Sheridan, and Mary O’Brien, his dear friend Elias , his dog Catherine and several nieces and nephew.
Bob has joined his daughter, Mary-Lee O’Brien, his parents Thomas and Catherine, and his brothers, Tommy, Vincent, and Ronnie, who welcomed him to the next life with open arms .
