

Roger Albert Clattenburg, 93, a lifelong resident of East Concord, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 17, 2018. He was born in Concord, NH on February 15, 1925, the son of James Albert Clattenburg and Kate (Shine) Clattenburg of East Concord.
Roger is survived by his wife of 70 years, Marion (Dyment) Clattenburg of East Concord; his son, Jon Clattenburg and his wife Wendy; his daughter, Karen Desmarais; his sister Rae Edmunds. He was fond of many nieces and nephews and his former daughter-in-law, Joni D’Alessandro. Roger was the proud “Grampy” of his grandchildren, Kara Pierce and her husband Nat, DJ Clattenburg and his wife Lauren, Jeff Clattenburg and his wife Margaret, Justin Desmarais, Heidi Smith and her husband James, Nicole Kipphut and her husband Jeff, Alexis Dowd and Mikaela Dowd. Roger was also a great grandfather of 10, Arden, Carsten, Elin, Emma, Maddy, Mae, Ben, Ryder, Trace, and Rowan.
He was predeceased by his brother, Warren Clattenburg and sisters Melba, Madeline, and Jean.
Roger was a veteran of the U.S Army in World War II. He served our country for 3 years as Private 1st class with the 179th Engineer Combat Battalion, serving in North Africa, Southern France, Italy, Sicily and Anzio Beach. Roger enjoyed 26 years of sulky racing with his wife, Marion, traveling throughout New England. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He passed this love of hunting and fishing on to his son and grandsons. As a vocation he chose to be a small engines mechanic and would take on any mechanical challenge. After retirement he continued to work on the equipment required to maintain his land. He also picked up the sport of bowling which he enjoyed for the rest of his days, making many good friends along the way.
Roger was a good husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. We all love him and miss him.

Family and friends are invited to join us in honoring Roger’s memory at calling hours, which will be held from 10am-12pm Thursday, December 27, 2018 at The Trinity Baptist Church, 80 Clinton Street, Concord, NH. A Christian service will follow at 12:15. There will be a procession to Pine Grove Cemetery, Concord, NH, after the service. Please join the family for a reception following the burial.
